The Honorable Mr Justice Joseph Mbalu Mutava was born in January 20, 1971. He holds Bachelor of Laws (1st Class Honors) from the University of Nairobi, a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law and a Master of Law (LL.M) from Queens’ College, University of Cambridge, UK.
Prior to his appointment to the Bench, he was the Assistant Director, Legal Services in the Central Bank of Kenya. He previously served as a Legal Officer at the National Bank of Kenya (1999-2004) before proceeding to the Legal Affairs Department in the Central Bank of Kenya in the same capacity (2004-2008). He has also worked with the Capital Markets Authority and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
He is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society, a Member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and also a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK).
