

THE HON. MR. JUSTICE DAVID AMILCAR SHIKOMERA MAJANJA

The Honourable Mr. Justice David Amilcar Shikomera Majanja (b. 1973) was appointed judge of the High Court of Kenya on 23rd August 2011. He took his oath of office on 2nd September 2011. He was educated at the Hill School, Eldoret and the Alliance High School. He studied law at the University of Nairobi where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in 1996. He also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in International Trade and Investment Law in Africa from the University of Pretoria. Upon admission to the bar in 1998, Justice Majanja worked for the firm of Mohammed and Muigai Advocates where he rose to the position of partner. He also worked briefly in the firm of Onyango and Ohaga Advocates.
He founded the firm of Majanja Luseno and Company Advocates in 2007. While in practice, Justice Majanja was a distinguished advocate in civil, commercial and public interest litigation. He was Assisting Counsel for the Commission of Inquiry Investigating the 2007 Post Election Violence (“the Waki Commission”). In 2010, he was elected to the Advocates Disciplinary Committee established under the Advocates Act. Justice Majanja has published widely on contemporary legal issues.
Justice Majanja’s first posting was at the Constitutional and Human Rights Division of the High Court at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi where he is currently stationed. In April 2013, he was appointed the head of the Ad Hoc Division on Election Dispute Settlement. He is also a member of the Rules Committee and the Judiciary Working Committee on Election Preparations. In May 2013, he was appointed to be a member of the Tribunal Investigating the conduct of Justice Joseph Mbalu Mutava.
