Justice David Kenani Maraga is a holder of LLB (Hons) and LLM from the University of Nairobi, where he is an occasional guest lecturer. Before being appointed a Judge of the High Court of Kenya in October 2003 and elevated to the Court of Appeal in December 2011, he had been in active legal practice for 25 years, covering criminal and civil litigations as well as conveyance.
 
Justice Maraga is a facilitator of the Law Society Continuous Legal Education (CLE) Seminars. He has attended several international and local conferences where he has made presentations on various legal topics.  He is the Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Working Committee on Election Preparations which prepared the Judiciary for election dispute resolution and is now overseeing the hearing of Election Petitions in the country.
 
Justice David Kenani Maraga was born on 12th January, 1951 in Bosose Village of Nyamira District. He is married, with three children.
