The Honourable Mr. Justice GBM Kariuki holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B Hons.) degree from the University of London, United Kingdom, and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Kenya School of Law. Prior to his appointment to the Bench, he had been bestowed the honour of Senior Counsel, having been admitted as an Advocate of the High Court and engaged in legal practice with the law firm of GBM Kariuki and Company Advocates for 30 years.
Justice Kariuki’s repertoire of previous professional engagements includes; Chairman, Law Society of Kenya for two terms (1985 – 1987); Member of the Council of the Law Society of Kenya (1978-1998); Member of the Council for Legal Education for 6 years; Member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Law Society of Kenya; Founder and Chairman of the Law Society of Kenya Savings and Credit Co-operative Society; Deputy General Secretary of the International Bar Association (IBA) East African Region (1985 – 1997); Member of the International Bar Associations’ Committee on the Future of the IBA (1985 – 1999); and Treasurer of the Africa Bar Association.
Justice Kariuki is married with four children.
