HER MAJESTY?S SUPREME COURT OF KENYA
PRACTICE NOTE NO. 2 OF 1961
Lists of Authorities
It is the duty of every advocate who intends to cite authorities to any Court or in Chambers to compile before hand and, not later than 4 p.m. on the day preceding (or 11 a.m. if it be Saturday) the day listed for the hearing of the matter, deliver to the Librarian, typed in duplicate on foolscap paper, a List of Authorities (or the volume of the Reports containing these) and any text books proposed to be cited by him. Such List should show the title and number of the case in which the advocate is appearing, and where possible the number or other designation of the Court to which the books are to be sent, and must be dated and legibly signed by the advocates concerned.
It is the duty the duty of the librarian, on receipt of such lists, to indicate on the top copy, which books will be available for the use of the Court, and then send it as soon as possible to the Senior Court Interpreter. Books for the use of the Court will be sent direct, while those which are required by advocates will be kept until the List, filled in the Library Register, has been countersigned by the advocate concerned.
This Practice Note will come into effect on 1st January 1962, and will then replace paragraph 4 of the Practice Note No. 1 of 1957, which will be cancelled as of that date.
