The terms of reference for the Committee shall be-

  1. to create and develop a database for all incidents reported and other vital documentation with regard to such incidents;
  2. to carry out post-crisis analysis in conjuction with relevant institutions and make recommendations to the Government and other relevant institutions with regard to risk prevention, better preparedness and improved crisis management.

Establishment of Crisis Response Committee:

Further, the Ministry has established a (Crisis Response Committee drawn from the Management Committee comprising the following persons:

The Crisis Response Team shall-

  1. receive and collect information on any actual or potential risk;

  4. assist with co-ordination, monitoring and re-evaluation of the risk response efforts.

The Committee shall work closely with the National Disaster Management Co-ordination Centre and other relevant institutions in the Management of all crisis situations.

In the performance of its function, the Committee may co-opt such additional expertise as may be required from time to time, on specialized aspects of its terms of reference.

PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority, (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the Proposed Sewer Line Diversion of the Epza Sewer Line.

The proponent intends to create a sewerage diversion of around 110 meters for its factory expansion project on No. LR. 337/2719. The diversion is to provide space for the factory expansion. The site is located in Athi River in Mavoko Municipality. The site is located between Plot Numbers: 337/976, 337/1074 337/2719.

The project anticipates the impacts and mitigation measures set out in the gazette.

The proposed project will comprise of Type A semi detached luxury masionette housed on 70 No. plots of minimum size 21.0 x 8.5m, each maisonnette is to have a plinth area of 100m2 . The second proposal will have Type B and will be composed of flats planned and arranged in 10 No. Each block is to accommodate 16 No. flats with a plinth area of 102.0 m2  per flat. The proposed project will be located on L.R. No. 234005 Mavoko Municipal Council.

The proposed project entails prospecting, mining and sale of manganese (Mn) ore. The project will be located in Ganze Location, Ganze Division, Kiilfi District in Coast Province of Kenya and covers about 15 sq.km.

INVITATION OF PUBLIC COMMENTS

PURSUANT to regulation 21 of Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment Management Authority, (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of the Proposed Development of a Housing Estate on L.R. No. 10426 /36, 37, 38 & 39, Mavoko Municipality.

The proponent intends to put up a housing estate comprising a total of 262 low cost bungalows of two and three bedrooms, 3 No. Plots have been set aside for sale to commercial developers (to bring commercial outlets closer to the estate) using regulated designs while 2 No. Plots have been set aside for development of a kindergarten.

The proposed development site comprises four plots registered as L.R. Nos. 10426/36, 37, 38 & 39 and is located outside Athi River town in Machakos District. The site lies about 0.7 km off Mombasa Road, opposite Athi River Steel Plant Limited.

The project anticipates the impacts and mitigation measures set out in the gazette.
