THE RULES OF PROCEDURE ON SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES (2012)

APPOINTMENT OF THE NATIONAL RETURNING OFFICER

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Articles 88 (4), 138 (10) of the Constitution of Kenya, section 11 of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, 2011, Sections 38 and 39 (1D) of the Elections Act, 2011 and Regulations 83(1)(i) and 4 of the Elections (General) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission appoints the person named in the Second Column of the Schedule as the National Returning Officer for the Presidential Election.

The appointment is for the purpose of the 8th August, 2017 General Election exercise.

THE ELECTIONS (REGISTRATION OF VOTERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2017

AVAILABILITY OF THE REGISTER OF VOTERS FOR KENYAN CITIZENS LIVING OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY FOR VERIFICATION

IN EXERCISE of powers conferred by Article 88 (4) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, sections 2, 4, 6A, 11 and 12, of the Elections Act, 2011 and Regulations 27A and 27B the Election (Registration of Voters) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission gives notice that the Register of Voters for Kenyan citizens living outside the country has been completed and is available for verification for a period of fifteen (15) days from 15th May, 2017 to 29th May, 2017.

The Register of Voters may be verified at the Registration Centers carried vide Special Issue Vol. CXIX – No. 26 GAZETTE NOTICE NO.  1816 of 2017 published on 27th February, 2017.

How to make a claim:

A person who duly applied to be registered and his or her name or biometric data has not been captured correctly in the register of voters may make a claim to the Registration Officer within the period prescribed for verification.

The claim must be made in the prescribed Form.

APPOINTMENT OF REGISTRATION AND ASSISTANT REGISTRATION OFFICERS FOR REGISTRATION OF KENYAN CITIZENS RESIDING OUTSIDE KENYA

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Articles 83 and 88 (4) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, section 11 of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, 2011, sections 2, 4, 6A, 11 and 12 of the Elections Act, 2011 and Regulations 27A and 27B the Election (Registration of Voters) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission appoints the Registration Officer and Deputy Returning Officer named in the First Column of the Schedule for purposes of the verification of the Register of Voters for Kenyan citizens residing outside Kenya which shall be conducted for a period of fifteen (15) days from 15th May, 2017 to 29th May, 2017.

NAMES AND SYMBOLS FOR INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Articles 85 and 88 (4) of the Constitution of Kenya, section 4 of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, 2011, sections 2, 32,33 (1) (a) (b) and (d) and (2) and 74 of the Elections Act, 2011 and Regulations 10, 15, 20 and 40 the Election (General) Regulations, 2012 and Regulation 15 Election (General) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission gives notice that the persons named in the second and third columns of the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Schedules are the persons whose symbols (provided in the last column) have been approved by the Commission for purposes of the Nomination day.

Notes:

  1. Pursuant to Regulation 18 of the Election (General) Regulation, 2012 all Independent candidates are reminded to supply their list of supporters in both printed and electronic format provided by the Commission.
  2. Pursuant to Regulation 40 of the Election (General) Regulation, 2012 all Independent Candidates are reminded to provide a physical address in the electoral area for purposes of physical service of documents.
  3. Pursuant to Regulation 20 of the Election (General) Regulation, 2012 Independent Presidential candidates are reminded to establish and maintain an office available for inspection by the Commission not later than 45 days prior to the General Election.
